So it looks like I'll be blogging a lot more this upcoming year. My husband bought me a laptop for Christmas! I've been asking for one for years. And now I can sit on my lazy a** and blog and edit pictures from my couch whenever I want. It's been trouble so far. I've gotten yelled at a few times already for being glued to it. I'm sure the newness will wear off soon. It's only two days after Christmas.
This has been a really great Christmas. I wish we could do it all over again. There was no rushing, no pressure. But most importantly, we have spent the past 3 days enjoying family. The kids were spoiled, as they always are. But they were very appreciative this year. I think breaking it up over 3 days, too, has helped them from getting too overwhelmed and allowed them to enjoy the gifts as they receive them. We are blessed to have a very large, very tight knit family. And for all of us, the kids is what Christmas is all about.
The theme for the boys this year revolved around sports and style. Both got new jersies of their favorite basketball AND football players. There was a new football, basketballs, a chain net for the basketball goal, new basketball shoes....And clothes. They were both happy to receive clothes, which makes me happy since they needed them and we have to buy them for them anyways.
Bella got a One Direction nightgown from Aunt Kelly. Pretty exciting stuff.
We spent Christmas Eve with the Tellefsen family. The cousins exchanged gifts. We had a wonderful turkey dinner, and then the kids performed their 3rd annual holiday performance. Their songs this year included: Shake It Off (Taylor Swift), Happy (Pharrell), and Uptown Funk (Bruno Mars). Cameron would not participate (no surprise there). He was too embarrassed (or too cool). The girls did great! Vaeda and Bella had a blast. And Jackson showed off his dancing skills.
Once again, Jackson had trouble falling asleep Christmas Eve. He came into our room at 5 a.m. Christmas morning! I was not getting up; so Josh finally took him downstairs for a "peek". We finally crawled out of bed around 7 and had to wake Bella and Cameron up.
This was a gift from Santa to the whole family. I loved it! (He could've at least removed the tag).
Josh & I actually snuck in a nap on Christmas day. First time EVER! We've all been sick over the past 2 weeks.
My mom, sister and kids came over that night to exchange presents and spend time together. Bella serenaded us the entire night with the new microphone & guitar she got from Mimi. Probably the best (and worst - depending on who you're asking) gift this year.
And then the day after Christmas. More presents, more food, and more family. We had a famous "standing rib roast" recipe that has been around for centuries. And played Risk. Good times.
We've watched a lot of Elf, Home Alone, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and An Elf's Story these past few weeks. It's been a good Christmas season, and I'm sad that it's coming to an end. I know the kids are. Bella keeps asking about "Bobby" (our elf). And now when anybody comes over, she wants to know if we're going to open more presents. Mommy is sad to go back to work tomorrow and really wishes she could get over this sinus infection. The boys still have another week off from school, which gives them plenty of time to enjoy their presents for a little bit longer. Gosh, to be a kid again. Merry Christmas!
My name is Kaci. I am a working mom of 3. Wife to Josh. Mom to Jackson, Cameron & Isabella. My life is dinner, homework, baseball, basketball, grocery lists, laundry, wine, video games, and bath time. I started this blog because I am passionate about photography and journaling, and because I wanted a place to write it all down, to rememeber little details so easily forgotten in the mad rush that is the life of a family of 5. Through my photos and words, I endeavor to capture our story.
