We weren't prepared. There wasn't time for practice. We had just finished our Spring season with the Championship game that Saturday (Braves beat the Dodgers; it was a great game and a gratifying win). But then, that Tuesday, the 9U All Stars had their first game. We played the warm up this year at Greenbrier. Not the best field, and difficult for picture taking. We lost our first game 10-9 in the last inning to the 10U Greenbrier. Josh was really hard on himself. The boys and parents took it hard. Not a great way to start our season. The next game, we faced the 9U Greenbrier team. And won!!! We played better defense and we started hitting the ball. Cameron hit a home run over the fence!! I felt like we just needed a good win to get the boys' confidence up and get them back in the game. They hadn't played together in months, and a lot of them had tried out new positions over the regular season. But they were back in the groove. We defeated the 9U SCAA and then the 10U Kempsville team to earn a spot in the Championship game. However, they were going to have to play a difficult team next - the 10U Suffolk All Stars. The other team was a little bigger and had more experience than our boys. But it didn't matter. As is our usual style, we were down most of the game, but in the end, we pulled it off and won 12-6. I had to rush outta there to make it to Jackson's basketball game, so I missed the trophy pics. Cameron making eye contact with his fans in the front row as he crosses home plate. His grandmother and Great-grandfather. I went back & forth this past Saturday between baseball and basketball. But I managed to catch every second of all 5 games! Somehow, it just worked out. And to top it off, Jackson won all 3 of his basketball games, winning the Explosion tournament. Pretty exciting stuff. The boys worked hard.
We celebrated with a pool party at the Morlang's on Sunday. Lots of food & drinks, wiffle ball, and the traditional belly flop contest. Good times were had by all. Especially Bella, who overcame her fear of the pool and by the end of the day was jumping in without her wings all by herself! She couldn't of been more proud.

AuthorMy name is Kaci. I am a working mom of 3. Wife to Josh. Mom to Jackson, Cameron & Isabella. My life is dinner, homework, baseball, basketball, grocery lists, laundry, middle school, wine, video games, and schedules. I started this blog because I love taking pictures, and I needed a place to document our life. I wanted a place to write it all down, to remember little details so easily forgotten in the mad rush that is the life of a family of 5. Through my photos and words, I endeavor to capture our story.
