This is overdue but needed to get my blog up for our camping trip we took Memorial Day weekend. Our favorite camping spot is in Frisco, North Carolina, on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks. Frisco Woods Campground. We've been going the past few years. We hadn't gone since Isabella had been born, so we were all excited to get back. We went with friends and my sister and her kiddos. This time we drug along Tammy and her boys as well (and literally had to drag her). I think she had a good time, but I'm not so sure she'll ever want to go again. We also brought along Sydney's friend, Joshua, who fit right in with our silly bunch. As usual, we spent the first night setting up camp and relaxing. We stayed in our favorite sites right on the sound so the kids could have free reign, and we could enjoy the sunset from our chairs while sipping on some cold beverages. The food was good. We grilled out for dinner: chicken thighs, shrimp, tuna steaks, and hot dogs. Had sandwiches and pasta salad on the beach. Of course, we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. We also made (and burnt) some jiffy popcorn over the open fire. (So not as easy as it may seem, but every year I still attempt it). The first night, the boys dug a HUGE hole (and right outside mine & Josh's tent. We were worried we would wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and fall into it). The kids played a lot of football and paddle ball while hanging out near the sound. The sunset was just how I remembered it and remains the best thing about camping here. Day two we spent the day at the beach. We had perfect weather. Bella still wouldn't go near the water. But she still had a great time. Let me just add that this is not the water, but in fact a large puddle near the shore that was left behind after high tide. It was like a mini-pool and all she needed. (The pier in the background is Frisco Pier. It was ruined in a hurricane a few years ago. I think Hurricane "Isabel". ) We were all a little burnt up and more tired the second night. But still had a great time just relaxing around the fire after dinner. Tammy saved the day when she got all the kids nets from the camp store. While we made dinner, they spent the night fishing. And another gorgeous sunset. And some goofy shots. One shot of the whole gang just before we left the next day. And one of the car packed full of our 31 bags. Until next year.....

AuthorMy name is Kaci. I am a working mom of 3. Wife to Josh. Mom to Jackson, Cameron & Isabella. My life is dinner, homework, baseball, basketball, grocery lists, laundry, middle school, wine, video games, and schedules. I started this blog because I love taking pictures, and I needed a place to document our life. I wanted a place to write it all down, to remember little details so easily forgotten in the mad rush that is the life of a family of 5. Through my photos and words, I endeavor to capture our story.
