Our first tournament was this past weekend and lasted all day Saturday and Sunday. Jackson's Mustang Blue team played a total of 4 games : 2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday, both with a 2-hour break in bewteen). It was hot. Real hot. We were smart with the sunscreen, but even the spf 50 wasn't enough to fight this sun. All of the boys have really hit it off. Some have played together for years. Like Jackson, Jared, Johnny and Kaleb. Jackson has played with a few of them on All Stars teams in the past. We had a lot of concession stand cheeseburgers and were smarter with the snacks (and drinks) the second day. Jackson did well. He played outfield and got in an inning at Short. His first game he hit a HUGE triple. Kaleb had a great day on the mound. And made a few catches on the outfield and at first base. That's Josh congratulating him on his first inning as an All Star pitcher. Staying cool in between games. This was the face of disappointment after he struck out.
He was worried that it was because he couldn't wear his "good luck bracelet" I had made him. So I stuffed it in his back pocket.

Today was Jackson's first All Star game. It was a warm up tournament in Deep Creek. The boys did well. Jackson went 1-3 at bat with a walk and 2 RBIs. His first game he hit a triple. It was beautiful and I know it felt good.
Just prior to the game starting, I presented him with a rubber band bracelet that I had made for him. He had been asking me to make one for a very long time. I surprised him with it and told him it was "for good luck". He wore it for the first game but was told by the Ump at the start of the second game he couldn't wear it. He was visibly disappointed. He struck out at his first at bat. He came out to me at the bleachers. I could tell he was trying to hide the fact that he was trying not to cry behind his batting helmet. And he says to me, quietly so no one else could hear, "I don't know why I can't wear my bracelet. " I stuck it in his back pocket and he seemed happy with that. When we got home, I suggested he try it on his ankle to see if it would fit. It did. And later this evening, he is still wearing it. I know he would probably be mortified if he knew I was sharing this story. But I know that this is the kind of story I never want to forget. He'll always be my little boy. {152/365}: Game day for the Cannons. We lost both games. But, in our defense, we were the only 7-year old team playing 8-year old teams. And I just love these kids. {153/365}: Bella was playing restaurant and serving all of her friends. {154/365}: Quiet time watching Monsters, Inc. with her babies. {155/365}: We came home and started picking weeds while we waited for Daddy and the boys to get home. She fixed her own hair, obviously. I call this her boho chic look. She loved picking weeds. {156/365}: Written by Cameron. {157/365}: She always likes to make sure Daddy is still behind us. {158/365}: We had our end of season baseball party for the Dodgers at Munden Point Park. Prettiest place ever.
Jackson is showing off his six-pack in this picture. Seriously. He said if he coughs, it makes it come out. He had everyone's attention. "Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." - Fred Rogers #childhood unplugged They were throwing handfuls of mud into the lake. Bella was loving it. Of course, she has to get dirty wherever we go. Sharing some sunflower seeds after baseball practice. Jackson showing off his dunking skills.
{145/365}: Day two of camping trip spent at the beach. Beautiful day, perfect weather. I didn't take this photo, but I'm in it and that is why I love it so much. Me and my girl. {146/365}: Memorial Day. We drove home from Frisco. Josh got pulled over on the way home so he wasn't in a good mood; I wasn't feeling too good and we were all in need of a good nap. In a real bed. That wasn't covered in sand. And a shower. This picture was taken just before we left Frisco Woods. What a great time we had! And looking forward to next time. {147/365}: Love that chunky-cheeks, dimpled grin. {148/365}: This week was all about the NBA playoffs. Pulling for the Heat and the Thunder. Cameron just wasn't hanging for this one, though. {149/365}: I dislike when his brother hurts him, too. {150/365}: Friday night. These 2 can't hang. {151/365}: It was Family Day at KPB fields. The kids were having a blast dunking Coach Josh. Some of them just came for this. He must've been dunked 50 times.

AuthorMy name is Kaci. I am a working mom of 3. Wife to Josh. Mom to Jackson, Cameron & Isabella. My life is dinner, homework, baseball, basketball, grocery lists, laundry, middle school, wine, video games, and schedules. I started this blog because I love taking pictures, and I needed a place to document our life. I wanted a place to write it all down, to remember little details so easily forgotten in the mad rush that is the life of a family of 5. Through my photos and words, I endeavor to capture our story.
