It is official. Bella is sleeping in her big girl bed. Every night.
I am surprised by how easily she transitioned. The first few nights were rough, I'll admit. I surrendered to laying down with her a few times, and even fell asleep myself. I finally gave up and put Josh in charge. One night was enough for me. And then one night it worked and she stayed in her bed and fell asleep all on her own. Then the next night, and the next. Until I finally realized we had made it through another milestone and it was time to take down her crib. My first thought was to put a message on Facebook and offer it to someone for free. It's a good sturdy crib, but after all, it's been through 3 babies. The finish has been gnawed off the railings from two teething boys. And it's natural finish, which is not as popular these days. And that's when I decided I couldn't let it go. Because it had been through 3 babies, MY 3 babies. And because the finish had been chewed off by my teething boys. And this was the last one. The last of my babies to ever sleep in a crib. I remember when moving Jackson into a bed when I was pregnant with Cameron so that the crib would be ready for when his little brother came along. And pulling it out of the attic when we were expecting Bella. How I thought about painting over those precious teeth marks and then thought better of it. And now I am so glad I didn't. So into the attic it will go. Until the grandkids come along. And I can break it out again and remember my precious little babies when they were still babies and cry. And be thankful that I have that little piece of our past. Now, if we can just get her out of these awful diapers!! |

AuthorMy name is Kaci. I am a working mom of 3. Wife to Josh. Mom to Jackson, Cameron & Isabella. My life is dinner, homework, baseball, basketball, grocery lists, laundry, middle school, wine, video games, and schedules. I started this blog because I love taking pictures, and I needed a place to document our life. I wanted a place to write it all down, to remember little details so easily forgotten in the mad rush that is the life of a family of 5. Through my photos and words, I endeavor to capture our story.
